The Role and History of Angels
Mar 29, 2014
There are three kinds of spiritual being. God, mankind, and angels. Christianity has majored on focusing on God and humans. We cannot neglect the third kind, our servants, the angels.
Angels are created to be our servants. Psalm 8:5 says: “Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor.” the word their used for God is Eloheim, the plural hebrew word for Creator God. We are one step lower than God himself. Coupling that with Hebrews 1:14 we see the hierarchy of spiritual beings: God, Man, Angels in that order.
God originally created angels in the beginning in order to assist mankind to fulfill their mission to fill the earth with the garden of Eden. (see Gen 1:28) Angels are part of the blessing. When Adam sinned and the curse entered into the earth the godly angels were expelled because ownership transfered over to Satin (Lucifer, a fallen angel).
Lucifer was an anointed cherub archangel who was in charge of the worship and praise to God in heaven (Ezekiel 28:13-14), Unfortunately he decided that he would like some of that praise and he was “lifted up because of [his] beauty” and God threw him out of heaven to the earth (Ezekiel 28:17). Along with Lucifer God threw out a third of the angels that had chosen to follow Lucifer (Rev 12:4, 9).
Because Lucifer was now running the world system, anytime an angel of the Lord wanted to come into the earth he had to receive permission from God per a human request through prayer. (see Daniel 10:12-13) We see an example of this old-covenant system in Genesis 28:12, 13. Jacob saw the ladder that the angels descended and ascended on today we call it “Jacob’s Ladder”. Unfortunately this is how it was for over 4,000 years during the Dispensation of the Law or the Old Covenant.
There was alot of Demonic control in the earth realm that kept angels from doing their tasks speedily. In Daniel 10 we see it took three weeks for the angel Gabriel to get to Daniel with the answer. In fact in verse 13 the angel Michael had to come and assist Gabriel in getting past the satanic “prince of persia.” It took two of the three archangels to fight past the satanic host!
How depressing it world be living under this dispensation. Ecc 4: 1-3 says “then I returned and considered all the oppressions that are practiced under the sun: And I beheld the tears of the oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they [too] had no comforter. So I praised and thought more fortunate those who have been long dead than the living, who are still alive. But better than them both [I thought] is he who has not yet been born, who has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.”
There was much power on the side of the oppressor it was so bad that it was better for those who had not yet been born!
But thank God for Jesus! Because Jesus came to earth, He transfered ownership back to the church and therefore angels are allowed back in.
Hebrews 1:14. “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
Angels are now operated back in their designed role: ministering spirits sent to minister to those who are born-again. They are designed to daily listen to our words. Your words give them their assignment. When you pray it is the job of the angels to bring to pass your prayers. Notice this is what they were created to do: LISTEN and DO. It is important that we are aware that at least one angel is around us all the time listening to what we say. When we decree something the angel will bring it to pass. Therefore condition your mind to only say things you mean. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21). Let your angels know you are credible.
So angels are in charge of answering your prayer and God is in charge of answering praise.
This also is a good time to note that since Satin is an angel he was designed the same way: to bring to pass what you say. Satin no longer has power beyond what you allow him to do. (When Jesus was Resurrected he came back with all authority and power see Mat 28:18) If you speak words of death satin can legally bring that to pass. Ps 39:1 “I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.” Why is it important to keep your tongue? Because the wicked one is listening just as intently as your angel. That’s what he was designed to do.
In summary, angels were created by God to serve mankind. Because Jesus gave ownership of the earth to the church, angels are now able to serve by bringing to pass what believers say. They are covenant enforcing agents in the earth.
